Four more to go

Benton is officially 14 months today.  He has four more months before he turns the big 1 8...18 months that is.  He is growing up way too fast and his little personality is like a revolving door.  He is still the best baby I know (and will always be) and the second baby, whenever that will be, has some big shoes to fill.  Even this past weekend, complete strangers were complimenting on what a good baby Benton is and how did we get so lucky.  I tell them that he has two wonderful parents that support, care, and love him very much and that is all one can ask for, right?

So...here are some facts about Benton:

- He is still a good walker and getting really, really fast at it.  It's almost like he is speed walking and trying to run.

- He loves basketball--loves, loves shooting hoops!  Everytime we come home from work, he points to the basketball goal in our driveway and walks straight to it.  Then, he goes inside gets a ball and walks back to the front door wanting to go play.  Sometimes he will grab the ball and put his arms up with the ball in tow which means he wants you to pick him up so he can throw the ball in the hoop.

- He has became a lover of moving items with some kind of stick or golf club.

- We still haven't found any food that he doesn't like.  We have given him cake and ice-cream (on very rare occassions) and he loves them both.  Beau says he got my sweet tooth; I begged to differ.

- He is a big fan of strawberries.  He likes to take a whole one and eat it all by himself. It is the cutest thing.

- He still has the cutest wave and will wave at anyone who shows him attention.  He will walk up to anyone and give them a hug as well. Again...too cute!

- He can say: 'mama', 'dada', 'cat', 'dog', sometimes we think he says 'car' and of course jibber-jabbish in between.

- Definitely a climber, as well. With some pretty good balance and no fear.

- Currently in a size 4 diaper, wearing 12-18month clothes, and has 7 teeth and getting 2 more in.  One on the bottom, which makes for the fourth bottom tooth, and one of his 1st molars.  We have been wondering why he has been fussy on and off some days.  (Correction: He is cutting 3 teeth instead of 2.  His top two molars are coming in as the same time as his 4th bottom tooth. Oh teething...the joys!)

- If he sees us do something or do some kind of noise, he is right there trying to do the same thing.  If we drink out of a cup, he wants to drink out of cup.  If we laugh, he tries to laugh.  If we try to make him say something...he usually doesn't.

- Loves going out for walks.  Ever since we got our jogging stroller, it seems like he could live in it.  We would go for walks around the neighborhood after work, when it was nice outside and he enjoyed the ride.  There have been times when he was fussy and nothing would soothe him except putting him in the stroller and going for a walk.  When we were in Jackson, MS he wouldn't take naps in the hotel's pack-n-play (probably because he could stand up in it and see us), so we would put him in the stroller, recline the seat back and he was out like a light.  There was one time, in the hotel room, that I was holding him trying to get him down for a nap and he was very squirmish and wanted down.  I let him down and he walked straight to stroller wanting to get in it so he could take a nap! (can I say...smart baby?)

- I would like to write "socialable" on my baby's forehead (not really), but that pretty much sums it up.  Can I say "future President" or maybe politician?  He knows how to work the room and work it well.  That definitely did not come from his mama!

- A dancing fool.  He loves to shake his bon-bon, clap, and tries to jump up and down to any kind of music.  When he does dance, it brings the biggest smile to your face.  That definitely came from his mama! :)

and this list could go on and on.  I could brag on him 24/7 and still wouldn't have enough to talk about him.
We go in for his 15 month checkup next month.  We will see how much he has grown in the weight and length department.

Happy 14-month baby boy.
