the next item

You know how you look forward to something so much and then the day that it finally happened it's the best day ever. Take graduating from college, you look forward to that day when you walk across the stage, grab your diploma, shake hands with the President and then you go on with the next goal in your life. For many, it's going to graduate school, or starting your very first job, or getting married or even all three.
Ah..getting married. A year or so of choosing the right dress, the right venue, bridesmaids, the church, the food, and everything else to make that One day..your day. And that day was your best day ever.
Then comes the day that you were rushed to the hospital, having contractions every minute or so and increasing in pain levels and besides all that pain, you knew that your first-born child will soon enter the world and your world would never be the same. Trust me..everything changes once that little, sweet child of yours enters the world that used to just be you and your spouse.
Now it seems like every month your baby starts growing more and more and accomplishing more milestones and you look forward to every little milestone that your baby can master, especially if he/she mastered it before he/she was suppose to, then you really think you produce a little smarty-pants! Soon you start checking off these milestones of your list: smiled: check
rolls over: check
sits up: check
gets 1st tooth: check
says "mama" and "dada": check
crawls: check
walking: check
and everytime your little one accomplishes these milestones, it's the best day of your life (or that's how I feel, at least) and then you can't wait until the next milestone he/she can do.
We witnessed Benton take his first steps this past weekend and it was very, very exciting. It was a good the best day! We have look forward to this day, like how you look forward to graduating college, getting married, becoming a mother and checking off what your baby has mastered. Now we can officially check off walking from our list and move onto the next thing to look forward to and I can tell you that will be another "best" day!

Here is Benton standing on his own.
