Washington, DC is known for hosting the anuual Cherry Blossom Festival every spring. Even though you are juggling through massive crowds of people on the metro and through the streets, it's definitely worth the sight. The cherry blossom trees were given to the USA from Japan as a symbol of the friendship between the two countries. This is an event that we don't miss.
The festival and blooms only lasts for about 2 weeks and we went during peak time. To see the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial lit up with cherry blossom trees surrounding them is a very magical sight. Here are a few pictures from the festival.
